Shubh Navratri Aadeez !
nd Eid wishes Eid ke day par dugii main...  Big smile

Sad ki main Navratri sahi tarha se nahi manaati hun Disapprove,, I mean just like they do in India with all those puja's and all
Hum bass normal karte hai, 9 days we stay vegy nd bass aise hii hamara Navratri dayz guzar jaate hai...  Geek

but koi baath nahii,,, bhagwaan ko yaad karne ke liye sirf puja's etc etc ki sarurat nahi hota naaa,,, dill se yaad karna hota hai toh bhagwaan jii bhi khush hojayega Big smile

To the world, you may be another Celebrity, But to Aadeez, you are the world.
Happy Birthday Aadee =)

:)..that was so beautifully explained farrah !.. :)...........
About Navratra..:) i ll explain..:) in some time :) the spiritual signigficance maybe :)
the esoteric essence..:)..m currently reading a scripture.on it n i do not want to miss this beautiful opportunity to meditate..:)..n pray ....so i would prefer sharing more accurate details..later with pictures :) to make more reader friendly and interesting..!
howsover dipz has explained the fun n celebration part of Navrarta........
Nav- means 9
Ratra- mean nights...
In a year there are several Navrartra....but one of most..celebrated is Shardiya Navratra..!

Significance of the Moon in Islam and Muslim festivals:

Islam follows the lunar calendar which is different to the western, gregorian calendar which we all use today. A lunar month has around 29.5 days which is why when we translate it into the gregorian calendar, festival days like Eid change slightly every year. if we were to use just the lunar calendar, Eid would be on the same day every year... but that would make it hard for the rest of the world!

So the birth of the new moon signifies the beginning of a new lunar month. The Islamic calendar has these months in it:

1.Muharram
2.Safar
3. Rabi al Awwal
4. Rabi al Thani
5. Jumada al Awwal
6. Jumada al Thani
7.Rajab
8. Shabaan
9. Ramadan
10. Shawwal
11. Zul Qaddah
12 Zul Hijjah

You'll recognise some names like Ramadan :)

Eid al Fitr- celebration at the end of Ramadan

At the end of 30 days of fasting, we celebrate Eid al Fitr- a time for reflection, feasting and fun :)

As you can see, since the birth of the new moon signifies the beginning of a new month, it's an exciting time waiting for the new moon to come out on the last night of Ramadan because it means that Eid al Fitr will be the next day :) Pakistani's everywhere call this 'Chaand Raat' and use it as an excuse to eat plenty, shop for new clothes, prepare for the big celebration and adorn their hands with mehndi ;) (well...girls anyway!)
